It was a rainy, windy day when we headed to Hugo’s Cafe Bar in Burscough. It had been a few months since our last visit and thankfully was not too busy. We settled into a corner seat and order our usual lattes. We decided to go with their excellent scrambled Eggs with a side of sausage. The food was well cooked and extremely filling. After taking some time to enjoy the last of our coffees we headed out on the canal for a walk before the rains returned.

A day of exploring in Lancaster included a couple of visits to Brew at each end of the day. Breakfast in the morning and cake in the afternoon. Both visits were very enjoyable.

At the end of a long fun day riding the tram around Manchester it was time for coffee. After checking the options I headed to Pot Kettle Black at Angel Gardens.

We started the year with a long walk around Liverpool. Heading back towards the car took us through the Georgian Quarter. We took some time to admire some of the Christmas decorations that were still up outside some of the houses.

Stating the year with a Sunday morning walk in Liverpool. After a couple of miles it was time for breakfast. We headed for Cafe Lucaya near the Pier Head. Great coffee and food and an amazing location. After a wonderful breakfast it was time for a good stretch of the legs around the city.

We prefer independent coffee shops, yet if we are going to use a chain then it will probable be a Starbucks. After a little shopping we ended up at the Starbucks Edge Lane West which happened to be it’s opening day. We had 2 nicely made latte’s and a snack. They had friendly staff and it is a nice location. Lots of space to distance – check them out but maybe after Christmas. There are a number of stores around and the traffic was crazy.

Java Bar Espresso coffee shop in Manchester Victoria Station

One last coffee before heading home and a stop at Java Bar Espresso in Manchester Victoria Station. Feels like a European coffee bar dropped in the middle of Manchester. Great coffee, friendly staff and offering something a little stronger if needed after a busy day.

After a morning on the tram it was time for a break. Grindsmith looked like a good option after checking the map.

I was asked to download an app to order – which I hate – but thankfully they will take an order at the counter. Went with a latte, which was good and a chocolate brownie, which was amazing. The food coming out to other customers looked good but had no chance to verify. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing.

I would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

After deciding to take the bus to Heswall, I opened up Maps to look for a coffee shop to try. Wylde was the first one to catch my eye. Turned out to be a great choice.

Friendly staff, a well made, good tasting coffee and you can’t beat a seat to watch the world from. The cakes looked amazing but I didn’t have a chance to try them.
