It was announced today by Softbank Mobile Corp that they had signed an agreement with Apple to carry the iPhone later in the year. As with all of the latest announcements the details were limited.
SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp. today announced it has signed an agreement with Apple® to bring the iPhone™ to Japan later this year.
There is no mention of this being an exclusive deal so there is still a chance that DoCoMo, the largest Japanese carrier, who were rumored to be in talks with Apple could still sign a deal for the iPhone.
Softbank is Japan’s 3rd largest provider with approximately 15 million subscribers.
