Best Buy has announced that starting on September 7th they will offer the iPhone 3G for sale. It will be available in 970 Best Buy stores as well as 16 Best Buy Mobile specialty outlets.

“We had a lot of work to do, obviously, to get in a position where Apple and AT&T would feel good about Best Buy Mobile carrying it, and that’s what we’ve done in the last 18 months,” said Shawn Score, president of Best Buy Mobile.

In June there were rumors that Best Buy and Radio Shack would both offer the iPhone 3G for sale. Can we now expect a similar announcement from Radio Shack?

Flickr has released the latest monthly statistics for cameraphone usage and the iPhone continues to be number one. After the recent release of the iPhone 3G the gap to the #2 phone, the Nokia N95, is increasing. It will be interesting to see how the figures change over the next couple of months as the iPhone 3G is sold in even more markets.
